How do I Get Insurance Without a Job?

Hey guys its Alex, I’m an insurance broker and today I’ll be talking to you about getting insurance even if you don’t have a job.

So if you get health insurance through the health insurance marketplace they are going to ask about an estimate of your modified adjusted gross income for your entire tax household. That means that they are going to consider all the income that’s reported on a tax return from all members of the people that are on your taxes even if you yourself don’t have a job.

So you don’t have to have a job if other people in your tax household have an income. Or if you have income from other means such as social security, rental income, royalty income, if you have a side hustle of some sort where it doesn’t require you to actually work. All reportable forms of income that would make it on to and get calculated as part of your modified adjusted gross income would be counted to qualify for the income amounts.
